Civil
Engineering Department |

The Department offers undergraduate degree program in Civil
Engineering with emphasis on Construction Technology and
Management since 1996. The departmental activities embrace
planning, design, construction & management. The department
has proposed to start postgraduate program in computer aided
Structural Analysis & Design soon. The activities of the
department are carried out under different discipline as
illustrated in the figure. Each division has a group of faculty
members headed by an expert faculty. There are well equipped
laboratories attached to different specializations.
Department has a strong desire of forging innovative alliance
with industry to achieve academic excellence along with up-to date
training of current construction practices. In this direction one
of the effort is to offer consultancy services to the industry.
This will help the faculty to gain first hand knowledge of
construction materials, practices, design & management from
industry; while industry will accrue benefit from sound technical
guidance, trouble shooting, testing facilities from the
department.

Transport
Engineering Division
The consultancy is mainly related to quality control and material
testing.
- Aggregate testing
- Mix design for road pavement work as well as for runways
- Bituminous material testing
- Quality control test of bituminous roads
- Traffic studies
Engineering
Surveying Division
The division has a number of precision one second electronic
theodolites, Automatic - Auto focus levels, Electronic planimeter
& total station to cater various needs of survey works. It
offers consultancy in following area :
- Topographical mapping
- Contour mapping
- Setting out
- Construction surveys
Structural
Engineering Division
The division can offer consultancy expertise in Structural
Analysis and Design for static and dynamic loads for :
- Industrial buildings
- Multistoried buildings
- Bridges
- Special structures such as chimney cooling tower etc.
- Software development
- Finite Element Analysis Applications
Environmental
Engineering Division
- Analysis of water & wastewater samples
- Assessment of ambient air quality
- Concentration of various gasses from vehicular emission
- Measurement of sound level of surrounding

Department is equipped with latest laboratory facilities in all
the divisions & computer facilities including software for
structural analysis & hardware like scanner plotter etc.
Central computer center has around 100 terminals and relevant
general purpose latest version softwares.

The continuing education programs enable to disseminate the
knowledge more widely to in-service engineers / Industry personal.
The faculty in the department plans to organize a number of
continuing education programs in form of short term courses,
seminars, conferences & symposia. A short term course on
'Analysis & design of high rise buildings, was highly
